Cultural Connections: Bringing Cultures Together Through The Arts

South Asia Institute’s Cultural Connections Program is a series of events that celebrates the intersection of South Asian and International cultures through the performing and literary arts. Each event aims to highlight the shared similarities and learn about the differences between South Asian and International cultures.

This edition celebrates the meeting and mingling of Mexican and Indian cultures through music, specifically, stringed instruments namely the Veena (originating from South India) and the Guitar played by maestros in their fields - Saraswathi Ranganathan and Juan Díes.

Join us on Saturday, Jun 10, 2023 from 6:30 PM - 8 PM CST for a beautiful intersection of Mexican and South Asian melodies, followed by a very special talk given by Carlos Tortolero Sr., the founder of the National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago.

This is a free event, although registration is required. Refreshments will be provided.
