NAVIGATING BORDERS

Saturday, October 22, 2022 | Seated | FREE!

Navigating Borders brings two cultures together - Indian and Korean - in one collaborative event. At this event, we invite participants to navigate these two country’s borders through discussion and shared celebration of culture.

South Asia and Korea share a common history of being divided by an arbitrary line that gave rise to new nations, India and Pakistan and North and South Korea. This year is the 75th anniversary of the Partition of British India and the current exhibition at South Asia Institute revolves around the aftermath of the event.

The event will open with talks reflecting on the historical repercussions of the borders imposed on each country by foreign nations. After a Q&A session, the event will transition to musical performances featuring musical performances from Korea and South Asia.

And finally, event goers are encouraged to exchange dialogue over light refreshments from each culture!

Attendees will have access to the exhibition at SAI following the event.
