Silver Splendor: Amna Shariff on Reviving Traditional Jewelry Design

  • 1925 South Michigan Ave Chicago, IL 60616 (map)

It’s silver, it’s pure, it’s handcrafted…

Amna Shariff brings her intricate silver jewelry from Lahore, Pakistan to Chicago.

Shariff’s jewelry is inspired by the rich tradition of jewelry design in Pakistan and is suffused with spiritual, social, and mythological connotations.

Her workshop, established in 2001, is a one-of-a-kind facility in Pakistan, where manufacturing begins with raw material and ends with a ready-for-market, finished product. She has exhibited her jewelry. throughout Pakistan and around the world — at the prestigious International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, as well as at art galleries and shops in London, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Nairobi, Istanbul, New Delhi, Bukhara, and more.

In her own words:

“Silver, my favored material symbolizes honesty and purity – it is light and radiant, it is reflective. It is the symbol of the moon, of purity and enchantment, of love and desire, of sensuality and seduction. Nothing else describes my visual vocabulary better than the metal itself.”

Join us on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 1-5 PM CST for an educational seminar on reviving traditional jewelry design, followed by a sale of select pieces from Amna's collection.

This is a free event! Registration is required.
